In 1871 Henry Miles agent for London & Lancashire Insurance, lived here. In 1871 the following persons lived here: Henry Jones, 39, Customs Officer; Sophia Jones, 32, his wife; Elizabeth Jones, 12, their daughter; William H. Jones, 11, son; John H. Jones, 9, son; Christopher Jones, 6, son; and Sarah J. Jones, 4, daughter. In 1881 the following persons lived here: Dinah Griffiths, 40, mariner’s wife; Kate Griffiths, 14, her daughter; David John Griffiths, 11, son; Mary Jane Griffiths, 8, daughter; Thomas Owen Griffiths, 5, son; and Dinah Amanda Griffiths, 2, daughter. In 1882-1926 John Owen Griffiths had a stationer’s shop here. In 1883 James Albert Griffiths was born here. No. 33 can be seen on the 1887 O. S. Map.
In 1891 the following persons lived here: Dinah Griffiths, 50, stationer; Catherine Griffiths, 23, her daughter; Mary Jane Griffiths, 18, daughter; Thomas Owen Griffiths, 15, son; Dinah Amanda Griffiths, 12, daughter; and James Albert Griffiths, 8, son. In 1901 the following persons lived here: John Owen Griffiths, 67, master mariner; Dinah Griffiths, 60, his wife (b. Llanfairnantgwyn); Catherine Griffiths, 34, their daughter; Mary Jane Griffiths, 28, daughter; Thomas Owen Griffiths, 25, son, marine engineer; Dinah Amanda Griffiths, 22, daughter, draper’s assistant; James Albert Griffiths, 18, son, mercantile clerk’s apprentice; and Irene Griffiths, 3, grand-daughter. Except where noted otherwise, all were bilingual and born in Cardigan. John Owen Griffiths became a Deacon of Bethania Baptist Chapel, William Street, in 1902. On 8th March 1904 Miss Dinah Amanda Griffiths, youngest daughter of Captain John Owen Griffiths of Emerald House, married Griffith Richard Jones of Stafford House, High Street. In May 1908 Martha (“Pollie”) Edwards married Thomas Owen Griffiths of Emerald House and S. S. ‘Rothsay’. In 1911 the following persons lived here: John O. Griffiths, 77, master mariner; Sarah Griffiths, 70, his wife; Mary Jane Griffiths, 38, their daughter. On 13th January 1921 Mrs. Dinah Griffiths, wife of Captain John Owen Griffiths of Emerald House, died aged 80. On 10th January 1922 Captain John Owen Griffiths of Emerald House died aged 88. In June 1932 the property was advertised for sale. In 1937 Mrs. Davies lived here. In 1938 John & Margaret Davies lived here.
In March 1939 No. 33 was sold to Thomas Morgan Jenkins. On 29th April 1947 Thomas Morgan Jenkins, hairdresser, died here aged 59. He had moved to Cardigan from Abercanaid near Merthyr Tydfil in 1919 having lost both legs at Goiezcourt in November 1917. He left a widow, Ann Jenkins, and children including Mrs. Beri Davies of No. 33. In 1947-77 Mr. & Mrs. Berri Davies lived here. On 3rd July 1950 Mrs. Ann Jenkins, 70, widow of Thomas Morgan Jenkins and mother to Mrs. Beri Davies, died aged 70. In 1951 Mrs. Mary Ann Thomas came here to live with Beri Davies and his wife. In 1951-77 Beri Davies ran a taxi firm here. In 1955 Beri Davies, Marguerite Davies and Mary Ann Thomas lived here. In October 1955 Mrs. Mary Ann Thomas died aged 84. In 1974 No. 33 was known as Emerald House. On 14th October 1977 Beri Davies died aged 64. In December 1979 Margaret Davies of No. 33 died. On 17th May 1980 No. 33, then residential, was advertised for sale. By January 1983 this was Cardigan Pet Centre.
